On Thursday, May 4, 2017 officers from Delaware Probation and Parole assigned to the Kent County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) assisted the Kent County Drug Unit and the Department of Justice for an active nuisance abatement case. As troopers and probation officers responded two subjects, John (26) and Courtney (38) Cox, both of Harrington were observed conducting drug transactions with a masked male suspect. Both Courtney Cox and John Cox were apprehended without incident, but the masked man fled the scene on foot. After a lengthy foot pursuit, officers arrested, Jermaine Boyd, 26 of Dover. During the chase two officers suffered minor injuries.
The masked subject, Jermaine Boyd, had over $2,220.00 in suspected drug sales money. After reviewing the area where the pursuit occurred, officers found a loaded .38 Caliber handgun and over 129 baggies of heroin. Boyd was charged with Violation of Probation, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammo by Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Drug Dealing, Wearing a Disguise During a Felony, two counts of Assault 2nd on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest and Violation of a No Contact Order.
John Cox was transported to Troop 3, Camden and a computer check revealed he was wanted for Burglary 2nd Degree from Superior Court. He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center for his Burglary charge. He was also charged with Criminal Impersonation, Criminal Solicitation and Conspiracy 2nd Degree .
Courtney Cox was charged with Criminal Solicitation, Conspiracy II and Violating a No Contact Order. She was committed to the Department of Corrections. Courtney has an active No Contact Order for Unity Lane.
