Felton: On June 20th, 2017, Delaware Probation and Parole officers played an instrumental role in saving a distressed man's life.
While conducting routine community visits in the Town of Felton, two officers from the Dover Probation Office witnessed a woman frantically screaming for help. As officers approached, the woman pointed to her husband who was lying face down in the driveway having violent body tremors. The Officers quickly exited their vehicle and approached the male. Officers began to assess the man who was unconscious, unalert and had no pulse.
Officers contacted 911 and began taking turns performing CPR while continuing to communicate with KentCom. The officers continued to perform multiple cycles of CPR until Kent County Paramedics, as well as Felton EMS and Police, arrived on scene. Kent County Paramedics then took over care of the man before transporting him and his wife to Kent General Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. These two officers took on the role of first responders when needed, and their actions without a doubt saved this man's life.
